Next Digital founder Jimmy Lai has been convicted under the National Security Law and is now awaiting mitigation and sentencing. Lai, a media tycoon who stirred up storms in Hong Kong’s public sphere, took part in one of the most damaging incidents in 2014 — the illegal “Occupy Central”.

The program “Jimmy Lai’s Half a Lifetime of Transgressions,” jointly produced by HKGPao and Silent Majority for HK, features host Vanessa Chow reviewing how Lai became involved in “Occupy Central” and was gradually drawn into politics, from which he could no longer extricate himself.
