四大警察協會聯署去信要求英議員道歉！近日香港修訂逃犯條例引爆風波，有暴徒借勢暴力衝擊警方防線，又是掟磚，又是掟鐵通，警隊無奈發射催激淚彈驅散。但英國工黨國會議員古德曼（Helen Goodman）指鹿為馬，竟刻意點名一位下令向示威者發射催淚彈的英國籍香港總警司，以及不點名當日同樣負責人群管理的兩名英國籍總警司，問英國政府會對呢幾名做出「殘酷行徑」嘅英國人採取乜嘢行動。有見及此，警司協會、警察督察協會、海外督察協會及警察員佐級協會發出聯署信，質疑古德曼漠視真相，連累有關警官被起底，遂要求她向有關警官以至香港警察道歉！

以下為聯署全文：

Dear Ms Goodman,

We refer to your recent statement in the House of Commons asserting, amongst other things, that the Hong Kong Police were guilty of brutality during theirhandling of recent demonstrations in Hong Kong. During your statement, which wenote was made under the protection of parliamentary privilege, you named an officer, who you claimed gave the order to use tear gas against the protesters. You furtherstated there were two other British officers who were the most senior officers on thescene handling the protest. You demanded to know what the government was going to do about bringing these officers to book for "police brutality".

By naming the officer, you have encouraged a doxxing campaign against that Superintendent. He, along with the two other expatriate officers, have been subjected to vitriolic cyber attacks and physical threats to their families.

At all times during the demonstrations, the Hong Kong Police officers acted with proportionality, using minimum force to suppress a rioting mob attacking the police. Many officers were injured by bricks and spears thrown by the mob. Some officers suffered from a corrosive substance being thrown at them. There are numerous media clips which clearly show that the violence was initiated by the protesters and the Hong Kong Police, in order to restore public order and protect themselves, used minimal force to prevent further attacks and injury on both sides.

You stated that there was a need for a public enquiry. You may not be aware, the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) has announced that a comprehensive study into all Public Order Events that took place during June. This study will receive evidence from members of the public, police and anyone who has information relevant to the study. We understand that whilst the study will touch on police actions during the protests, it is vital for the IPCC to consider who instigated the riot and encouraged the attacks on police.

On 1 July 1997, Hong Kong returned to Chinese rule after 155 years of British rule. On the lead up to the handover, both the British and Chinese governments made impassioned pleas for serving expatriate officers to continue to serve under the new regime to maintain stability in Hong Kong. The Superintendents mentioned by you made that pledge, along with a number of other expatriates, to remain in Hong Kong, serve the community and assist in ensuring the safety of this world-class city. 

Hong Kong has one of the lowest crime rates in the world; thus, our children can walk the streets without the fear of crime. It is therefore hugely disappointing to have criticism levelled at us when a peaceful demonstration turned violent due to the irresponsible actions of a small, yet determined group of hooligans, who decided that throwing bricks, spears, charging police lines and using corrosive powder against police was an acceptable means to deliver their message. 

It is evident to us that you have no understanding nor insight into what is happening here in Hong Kong. We can only surmise you are either wilfully blind to the truth or reading false reports. You owe the Superintendent and the Hong Kong Police Force an apology.
